What is Dental Sedation?
Dental sedation refers to a variety of techniques and medications used to make patients feel more comfortable during dental procedures.
We are able to provide oral sedation and general anesthesia options for our patients. Our dentists can help determine which of these is right for you based on your level of dental anxiety and the complexity of the procedure.
At Preston Dental Centre, it is our mission to do everything we can to help you feel relaxed during your dental appointment. We will work at your pace, take breaks when you need them, and provide calm reassurance.
Oral Sedation
Oral sedatives are pills or liquids prescribed to you by your dentist. The medication is taken orally before your dental appointment. You will be awake during the procedure and able to respond, but it will create a calming effect to relax you significantly.
General Anesthesia
General anesthesia is a controlled state of unconsciousness that eliminates awareness, movement and discomfort during dental treatment. It allows for complex treatments to be completed while you are asleep, meaning you will not feel what happened during the appointment.
